The Crown Point 4th of July Celebration Committee is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that started in 1982. We are located in Crown Point, IN and consist of volunteers from South Lake County. Our volunteers are Committee Members or Parade Day Volunteers. Committee Members meet once a month beginning in January to help plan the parade and fireworks display. Parade Day Volunteers join Committee Members on the 4th of July to help with the parade line-up or help pass out programs at the fairground gates before the fireworks.
To lead the committee, a group of volunteers are voted to be the Executive Board. Individuals in the board are the Co-Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, and other board members determined by the current situation. When it comes to committee’s finances, we are solely dependent on donations by businesses, organizations, and individuals.
The purpose of the Crown Point 4th of July Celebration Committee is to setup and run two free community events: Crown Point 4th of July Parade and Crown Point 4th of July Fireworks Display. These events were originally conducted by the Crown Point Local Government but the task was taken up by the committee when the local government no longer wanted to handle the events. Due to the scope of the events, the committee works with local organizations and businesses in performing the different task needed for performing these events.
Both Events are held on 4th of July each year. The parade begins at 2 p.m. and travels along Main Street going north beginning at Robert A. Taft Middle School to the WWII Tank at the intersection with Goldsborough Street. Fireworks Display Event is held at the Lake County Fairgrounds located in Crown Point. At dusk the Fireworks Display begins.
We strive to give the Northwest Indiana Community two great events that celebrate Independence Day. It is our goal to have these events be enjoyable for individuals of all ages and to be something that will create wonderful memories for everyone.
